Here are the federal and state public offices to which Kenneth Blackwell was elected or appointed.
- 2003 - ...; Re-elected as Secretary of State of Ohio;
a. defeated Brian Flannery(D) by 59.3% (1,795,647) to 40.7% (1,231,743);
b. After 4 years on the job, received a 3.3% increase in support - 41,937 voters. - 1999 - 2003; 51st Secretary of State of Ohio;
a. defeated Charleta B. Tavares (D) (state senator from 22nd District) by 56.02% (1,754,710) to 43.98% (1,377,604);
b. He received more votes than did Bob Taft, who garnered 1,647,081 in 1st bid for governor;
c. After 4 years on job, received 2.25% increase of support; +14,000 voters - 1994 - 1999: Treasurer of State of Ohio;
a. first ever Black elected to a state-wide elective, executive office;
b. defeated Sykes(D) by 53.74% (1,740,710) to 47.26% (1,370,737). - 1994 -1997: nominated to and elected to Xavier's Board of Trustees.
- 1991 -1993: U.S. Ambassador to the United Nation's Human Right Commission.

b. Nominated to be leader of Delegation. - 1990: Lost US House, Ohio's, 1st district to Charles Luken
a. Margin of loss was a scant 3,570 votes (83,932 – 80362: 51.09% - 48.91%). Luken succeeded his father's seat and after serving 1 term he retired.
b. This was the second closest race ever in the 84 year history of the district.
c. The closest was when Charles Luken's father, Tom Luken failed to unseat the incumbent, William B. Gradison, Jr. by 2,559 votes, (70,284-67,685). - 1989 - 1990: Deputy Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
a. Jack Kemp was Secretary.

c. Potato was still spelled without an ‘e’. - 1980 - 1989: Xavier University's Associate Vice President of Community Relations.
